Elegant new all-season resort of national importance (developed in the 7th decade of this century) situated in the SE extremity of Romania, on the Black Sea coast, elevation 5-20 m, in a relatively greenery-rich zone (forests with numerous southern tree species), 6 km N of the town of Mangalia (by which it is administrated) and 38 km S of the municipality of Constanta (seat of Constanta county).
Excitant-stressful climate of maritime littoral with mostly bright hot summers (July average temperature above 22°C), when the sun shines for 10-12 hours a day and mild winters with little snow (January average temperature 0°C). The average annual temperature is of 11.2°C. Low precipitations (less than 400 mm annually). The natural cure factors are the maritime climate rich in saline aerosols and solar radiation, the chlorided, sulphated, sodic, magnesian, hypotonic water of the Black Sea (mineralization 15.5 g), the springs of sulphurous mesothermal (22-27°C), waters and the sapropelic mud drawn from Lake Techirghiol and carried to this resort. There exist wide fine-sand beaches developed for aeroheliotherapy, wave therapy and applications of cold mud.
The resort is recommended both to healthy people for holidays and to ailing persons who can benefit by treatments for degenerative rheumatic diseases (cervical, dorsal and lumbar spondylosis), inflamatory rheumatic diseases (plainful conditions after acute articular rheumatism or specific infections, rheumatoid spondylitis, rheumatoid polyarthritis with a moderate inflammatory activity) and abarticular ones (tendinitis, tendomyositis, tendoperiostosis, scapulohumeral periarthritis), post-traumatic conditions (after operations on muscles, joints and bones, after sprains, luxations and fractures), peripheral neurological diseases (paralysis and paresis, polyneuropathies after the acute stage, sequels after poliomyelitits), gynecological diseases (ovarian insufficiency, chronic cervicitis, chronic metrosalpingitis), endocrine disordes (benign hypothyroidism, myxedema), dermatological diseases (psoriasis, incipient ichthyosis, chronic exzema, chronic urticaria, pruritus, etc.), respiratory and other disorders.
